Premier Hyperion Performance Tools

Environment Manager

This module provides access to the majority of ongoing maintenance tasks in one console. It takes a holistic view of the deployment and leverages the construct of ‘Environments’ so properties and activities can be viewed at the Server, Application and Environment level.

Environment View

In addition to property and state reflection, tasks such as editing, auditing, and deployment debugging are available here. Expert guidance on setting recommendations including minimum and maximum values is provided. Real-time server performance measures such as CPU and memory usage can be viewed, as well as users and jobs on that Server and Environment. The module even provides proactive system protection by comparison and reporting of actual deployment state to desired profiles.

Checking the status, connectivity, and properties of the system across multiple servers and environments involves a significant amount of expert-level legwork. This module simplifies and accelerates this entire process providing significant savings in the development, configuration, maintenance and support of the entire deployment.

Additional Components Included with Environment Manager

Tuning Manager

This tool will walk the user through changing product property setting on a single server or across a group of servers in just a few clicks. It takes effort and guesswork out of system maintenance by not only automating the task but auditing it as well so there is a history of what was changed, when it was changed and by whom.

Script Manager

Scripts can be created, stored, edited and executed all from this interface. Execute a script on a single server or on every server in an environment simultaneously with the click of a button. Examples of useful scripts are to restart a collection of services or stop and restart a process.

Enterprise Repository

Central database storage for any documents needing to be accessed across the deployment. Extract files are automatically stored here for tasks executed through the Enterprise Automation product as are Snapshots captured in the SOX Audit and Reporting product.

Deployment Summary Report

This report is a synopsis of every setting for every Application and Server in every Environment across the deployment. Server settings include physical machine properties, software versions, product properties and installed file versions. Application settings include versions and a statistical breakdown of key dimensions. Consider this report an auto-documentation tool for your deployment.

*Deployment Compliance Report

This report compares product settings, server settings and installed files across servers and alerts to any that are out-of-sync. Discrepancies such as these often manifest into issues without remediation.

*Product Settings Audit Report

Complete audit of all product settings changes regardless of whether the changes were made via Ascension Suite, the native product or manually.

USE CASE:
A large Hyperion client has a deployment with over 3 dozen servers. One recent task required making registry changes to 3 servers; doing this took over 50 minutes with 6 people on the conference call. The Ascension Suite can accomplish this same task in seconds. With Accelatis installed, even changes made outside of the Accelatis tool are detected, audited and made available in the Product Settings Audit report.

USE CASE:
A client experienced a performance issue that was eventually traced to a mismatched Windows Service Pack between servers. Another client had Consolidation settings that exceeded recommended values. Ascension Suite alerts on these conditions before they become performance problems or cause system downtime.
